Interesting facts about Namma Metro Purple line
- India's prime minister, Narendra Modi, inaugurated the Bangalore metro Purple Line from Krishnarajapuram to Whitefield (Kadugodi) on March 25.
- This was the first and inaugural section of Namma Metro.
- The Purple Line is mostly elevated, with 29 elevated stations, 5 underground stations, and 1 at-grade station.
- Bangalore Metro Phase I of the Purple Line was the first underground metro section in South India.
- Under the 2032 trillion dollar economy plan of the Karnataka government, the purple line is planned to expand eastward up to Hoskote town.
- The interchange station at Majestic is much larger as compared to Bangalore metro's other stations.
- All stations on the line have 4 emergency exits, and the Majestic station has 18 emergency exits.
- Initially, there were no toilets at Namma Metro stations. BMRCL finally heeded the public demands for toilets and the first toilets of the metro were opened on 21 June 2013 at Baiyyappanahalli and Indiranagar stations.
