DMRC Installs Touchscreen Kiosks at 12 Metro Stations
DMRC has installed touchscreen kiosks at 12 Delhi Metro stations, enabling faster ticketing services and digital access. Passengers can also book metro tickets directly via WhatsApp.
To enhance the convenience of passengers on the Delhi Metro, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has further strengthened the digital ticketing system. Passengers can now book metro tickets via WhatsApp, and new touchscreen kiosks are being installed at select stations. This initiative aims to reduce congestion at ticket counters and provide faster and more convenient service to passengers.
DMRC Installs New Touchscreen Kiosks at 12 Stations
DMRC has installed modern touchscreen kiosks at 12 major stations across the Delhi Metro network. These kiosks will allow passengers to avail ticket-related services without having to visit a ticket counter.
The kiosks are designed to allow passengers to easily purchase tickets, recharge tickets, and access other services by simply following the on-screen instructions. This is expected to reduce long queues at ticket counters.
How to Get Metro Tickets Through WhatsApp?
The Delhi Metro already operates a WhatsApp-based ticketing service. Under this facility, passengers can book tickets using a WhatsApp chatbot from their smartphones. After purchasing a ticket, passengers receive a QR-based ticket, which can be scanned at the station's Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gate to proceed with their travel.
WhatsApp Ticket Booking Process
- Send a message to DMRC's official WhatsApp chatbot.
- Select the language.
- Select the departure and destination stations.
- Enter the number of passengers.
- Complete the online payment.
- Receive the QR ticket after payment.
- Scan the QR code at the entry and exit gates.
DMRC's WhatsApp ticketing service is available in both Hindi and English and is implemented across the entire Delhi-NCR Metro network.
Integrated Use of Kiosks and WhatsApp Ticketing
Under the new system, touchscreen kiosks will provide passengers with easy access to the digital ticketing platform. Passengers who need assistance with the mobile application or online ticketing process will be able to obtain the necessary information through the kiosks.
DMRC aims to make the ticketing process completely digital, fast, and user-friendly so that passengers have to spend less time before starting their journey.
DMRC's official stance
DMRC is continuously promoting digital ticketing. The corporation has already expanded the WhatsApp-based ticketing service across the entire network, including all 12 metro lines and stations in Delhi-NCR. This service is being operated in collaboration with Meta and its authorized partner.
