Kolkata Metro to Start Services at 4 AM for NEET UG on 21 June 2026

Kolkata Metro will operate additional early morning services on June 21, 2026, with trains starting from 4 AM on the Blue, Green, and Yellow Lines to facilitate NEET UG 2026 candidates and commuters.

The Kolkata Metro Railway has announced an extra train service on the early morning of June 21, 2026, to facilitate students appearing for the NEET-UG 2026 exam. The purpose of this special arrangement is to enable the candidates and their parents to reach the exam centres in Kolkata on Sunday morning without any transportation problems.

This service is being provided on the Blue, Green, and Yellow lines to facilitate participation in the International Yoga Day event on Red Road and to facilitate the commuting of NEET-UG 2026 candidates.

Kolkata Metro services will begin at 4:00 am

According to the Metro Railway, train services on the lines will begin at 4:00 am on June 21, much earlier than the usual Sunday timings. This special arrangement has been made in view of the increased passenger demand due to the NEET UG 2026 exam and International Yoga Day events.

Schedule and Frequency Details

Blue Line (Dakshineswar - Shahid Khudiram)

Metro services on the Blue Line will begin at 4:00 AM on June 21st. Trains will run at approximately 14-15 minute intervals between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM. The Metro Railway has increased the total number of services on this corridor to 214, compared to the regular 152 services on Sundays.

Green Line (Howrah Maidan - Salt Lake Sector V)

Operations on the Green Line will also begin at 4:00 AM. A total of 173 trains will operate on this corridor, an increase from the usual 108 trains on Sundays. During the early morning hours, trains will run at 10-15 minute intervals until 9:00 am.

Yellow Line (Noapara – Jai Hind Bimanbandar)

On the Yellow Line, Metro Railway has increased its services to 112 trains, compared to the regular 78 trains on Sundays. The first train will depart from Noapara at 4:18 am and the next from Jai Hind Bimanbandar at 4:40 am. Trains will run at 18-20 minute intervals until 9:00 am.

After 9:00 am, regular Sunday services will resume on all lines.

International Yoga Day is also celebrated on 21 June 2026

In addition to the NEET UG exam, International Yoga Day will also be celebrated on June 21st, which will increase passenger traffic across the city. However, the special metro services running early in the morning are expected to benefit NEET aspirants and their families the most, who need reliable transportation during the early hours of the day.
