The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation team is set to conduct a trial run of the metro on the up line from ISBT to Bijli Ghar Chowk in Agra within the next 48 hours. Senior officials from Lucknow will arrive in Agra on Monday afternoon and will first inspect the track, after which one or two metro trains will be operated. The metro trial will continue for two months. Initially, the metro's speed will be 10 kilometers per hour, which will later be increased to 90 kilometers per hour. The trial run on the down line will begin in January. A corporation official said that a proposal has been prepared to start metro operations around the time of Holi.

Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has announced it will operate Metro Line-3 overnight on New Year’s Eve. As per the details shared by MMRC, the Aqua Line metro will operate through the night from 10:30 pm on December 31 to 5:55 am on January 1, 2026. The special extended night service has been announced to ensure convenient and safe travel for commuters celebrating New Year’s Eve.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has extended train services across the Purple, Green and Yellow Lines on New Year's Eve, while closing entry and exit at MG Road station to manage heavy crowds after 10pm on Dec 31. On the Purple Line, the last train from Whitefield will leave at 1.45am and from Challaghatta at 2am. On the Green Line, final trains from Madavara and Silk Institute will depart at 2am in both directions. On the Yellow Line, the last train from RV Road will leave at 3.10am, and from Bommasandra at 1.30am, BMRCL stated.

Pune’s long-awaited Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 has missed its December 2025 deadline, pushing the project into another phase of delay. However, to avoid prolonging commuter inconvenience, especially for IT professionals travelling to and from Hinjewadi—the administration is now considering starting metro services on completed sections while work continues on unfinished stations.

Kochi’s Metro and Water Metro will extend operations over the New Year period to handle an expected surge in passenger traffic, officials said. Metro services on the Edappally–Aluva and Edappally–Tripunithura corridors will be extended until 11 pm from 26 December to 3 January. On New Year’s Eve, 31 December, trains will run at 20-minute intervals late into the night, continuing until 1.30 am. According to the schedule, the last Metro trains will depart from Aluva and Tripunithura at 1.30 am, while the final service from Edappally will leave at 2 am.

Seeing the enthusiasm for the metro in Bhopal, the metro management is now exploring the possibility of operating trains on the second track as well. Currently, with only one train running between Subhash Nagar and AIIMS, passengers are facing long waits of up to 75 minutes. Therefore, additional trains may be introduced during peak hours in the new year.

Kolkata Metro will operate extra services on the Blue Line on December 31st for New Year's Eve revelers. On New Year's Eve, eight special services will run on the Blue Line after 9:40 PM. These include four northbound and four southbound trains. These extra services will run between Dakshineswar and Shahid Khudiram. From south to Shahid Khudiram, the extra trains will depart at 9:40 PM, 9:52 PM, 10:05 PM, and 10:18 PM. In the other direction, from Shahid Khudiram to Dakshineswar, the trains are scheduled for 9:54 PM, 10:04 PM, and 10:17 PM. Additionally, a special service will run from Shahid Khudiram to Dum Dum at 10:30 PM, providing an extra option for northbound passengers. All eight special services will commence after 9:40 PM, extending the Blue Line's operating hours for the day.

A metro train traveling from Munshi Pulia to the airport in Lucknow experienced a sudden brake failure. This caused panic among the passengers on board. Upon receiving the information, the metro's technical team arrived at the scene and, after about 15 minutes of effort, manually released the jammed brakes. According to metro officials, the brakes jammed due to a technical problem. The metro service was disrupted for 15 minutes as a result. During this time, other metro services were diverted to different platforms.

The Noida Metro in Uttar Pradesh is planning an expansion by February-March, with services extending from Botanical Garden to Sector-142. NMRC Managing Director Dr. Lokesh M. presented the plan to the Public Investment Board, where the response was positive. Approval is expected within a week, after which the tendering process will begin. Meanwhile, the detailed design drawings will also be completed; a company has already been selected for this work.

Line 2 of the Jaipur Metro is set to significantly improve connectivity to the city's airport, with plans to provide direct underground passage from the Airport Metro Station to all passenger terminals. Following recent consultations between the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) and airport authorities, it was confirmed that passengers will be able to travel between the metro station and the three terminals via dedicated tunnels and supported shuttle services. Jaipur Airport, which currently operates with two terminal buildings, will have a third addition when Line 2 becomes operational.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will operate the "first train" of the Delhi Metro network, TS#01, as a special commemorative service on December 25 to mark the anniversary of the start of Delhi Metro operations in 2002. According to the DMRC, this historic train will run from Shahdara to Tis Hazari at 10 am on Thursday. The train will be specially decorated for the occasion. Passengers wishing to relive the historic moment of the launch of the Delhi Metro can avail this special service, the DMRC said.

The Union Cabinet has approved three new corridors under the Delhi Metro's Phase 5(A) project at a cost of approximately ₹12,150 crore. These corridors are from RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. Briefing the media in New Delhi after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that with this expansion, the Delhi Metro network will be over 400 kilometers long.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced significant news for Namma Metro commuters. The company has planned a new Orange Line corridor, designed as a double-decker metro project. The proposed line will cover a distance of 12.5 kilometers from Hosahalli to Kadabagre Cross and connect nine stations located in the western part of the city.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a new US$240 million loan to advance the expansion of the Chennai Metro network, bolstering efforts to provide cleaner, safer, and more reliable public transport in the Chennai Metropolitan Region. This latest approval is part of ADB's US$780 million multi-tranche financing facility for the project, approved in 2022. It follows an earlier loan of US$350 million issued under the first tranche.
