Anand Vihar, the first underground station of the RRTS corridor, is ready to welcome passengers. People can get the gift of semi high speed Namo Bharat train on the new year.
To provide better facilities to NCRTC passengers, three bridges have been built on the Ghazipur drain passing in front of the station, out of which the bridge will be reserved for vehicles coming to the station for pick and drop, the second for pedestrians and the third has been built for exiting the station.
The outer part of Anand Vihar station has been decorated with a facade of modern grey panels. At the same time, attractive shiny vitreous enamel panels have been used at the concourse and platform level inside the station. Two entry exit gates have been built for the convenience of passengers in the station.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that train services between Jahangirpuri and Samaypur Badli will remain disrupted from December 18 to December 28 and 29. During this period, Samaypur Badli, Rohini Sector-18, 19 and Haiderpur Badli Mor stations will remain closed.
The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) board has approved the detailed project report (DPR) for the new metro line connecting Sector 56 of Gurugram to Pachgaon. The metro line will connect major areas like Golf Course Extension Road, Southern Peripheral Road, Central Peripheral Road, Dwarka Expressway and developing areas of Manesar Industrial Area.
To ease the travel of commuters, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched an app named Momentum 2.0 Delhi Saarthi for both Android and iOS devices that solves all the problems related to Delhi Metro ticketing. This app works like a digital wallet that can be used to buy metro tickets including multiple journey QR tickets.
Delhi Metro's Yellow Line train services will be partially regulated from midnight on November 14/15 to midnight on November 19/20, 2024. During this time, no trains will run between Samaypur Badli and Jahangirpuri (a small section) from 10:45 pm to the end of service, and from the start of service until 7:02 am.
Namma Metro plans to request the government to hike ticket prices by 15%. If approved, the new fares could start by January 2025. Currently, ticket prices range from Rs 10 to Rs 60. If the hike is approved, the minimum fare will be Rs 15 and the maximum fare will be Rs 75.
Kolkata Metro will operate four special services (two up and two down) on the Blue Line for SET candidates on December 15. The first two special services will depart from Kavi Subhash station at 08:00 am and 08:30 am towards Dakshineswar.
The Namma Metro Yellow Line is expected to be operational by January 2025. The line will improve connectivity in the southern industrial and residential areas of the city. It stretches 19.15 km from RV Road to Bommasandra, with 16 stations. Important stops include Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction and Electronics City.
The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the Hebbal-Sarjapur Metro corridor under the Bangalore Metro Phase 3A project. This 37 km long corridor will cost around ₹28,405 crore. It will include 22.14 km of elevated tracks with 17 stations and 14.45 km of underground tracks with 11 stations.
The Karnataka Cabinet on Friday (December 6) approved Phase 3A of the Red Line of the Bengaluru Metro. The Phase 3A line will start from an elevated section at Sarjapur and integrate with the Blue Line (Central Silk Board-Kempegowda International Airport) at Iblur. It will go underground after reaching Koramangala. The Phase 3A line will be 14.5 km underground, while the 22.1 km stretch will be an elevated corridor with 17 stations. The project will connect the IT hub in east Bengaluru to the northern areas.
The Union Cabinet approved the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor as part of Delhi Metro Phase IV on December 6, 2024. This new 26.46 km corridor will improve connectivity between Delhi and Haryana. It will take four years to complete and will cost around Rs 6,230 crore. There will be 21 elevated stations on this route.
Due to Diljit Dosanjh's concert in Bengaluru, metro services across the city have been extended till 12 midnight to ensure smooth movement for fans attending the event, making it easier for people to commute.
BMRCL has announced that Bengaluru Metro services will start earlier on Sunday, 8 December 2024, for the Karnataka Public Service Commission exams for Panchayat Development Officers. Trains from all four terminals—Madavara, Silk Institute, Challaghatta and Whitefield (Kadugodi)—will start at 5:30 am instead of 7:00 am. The first train in all directions from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda station, Majestic, will also start at 5:30 am. Between 5:30 am and 7:00 am, trains will run every 30 minutes. After 7:00 am, the metro will follow its regular schedule.
There has been an incident of cable theft between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar on the Blue Line of Delhi Metro. Due to this, services will be delayed during the day due to slow running of trains on the affected section, due to which passengers may face delays. DMRC said that the problem will be fixed only after the operational time ends at night.
Yogi Adityanath has approved the expansion of the Aqua Line Metro Corridor in Noida. The metro will connect Noida to Knowledge Park in Greater Noida. There will be 11 new metro stations on this 17.435 km long route. This project costing Rs 2,991 crore will make travel between Noida and Greater Noida easy and convenient.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will build a Ridge Interpretation Centre at Patel Chowk Metro Station. This centre will help in showcasing the special features of Delhi Ridge and also make people aware about the green lungs of the city. This centre is expected to be completed in 18 months. There are four ridges in Delhi - North Ridge, Central Ridge, South-Central Ridge and South Ridge, whose total area is about 7,777 hectares.
The Chennai Metro Rail witnessed a decline of nearly 8% in the number of passengers in November as compared to October. There were 90,83,996 passengers in October, while it dropped to 83,61,492 in November. With Phase-I and Phase-II extension, the Chennai Metro now serves 54 km area of the city and carries around 2.78 lakh passengers daily. In September and October, the metro served 3.09 lakh and 2.93 lakh passengers respectively. But in November, the number dropped to 2.78 lakh per day.

The line will be 19.15 km long from RV Road to Bommasandra and will have 16 stations. Major stops include Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Silk Board Junction and Electronics City. The first phase of the Yellow Line will have three trains, which will run every 30 minutes. The first train will arrive in December and the second in January. By August 2025, 15 of the 36 trains will be six-coach trains.
