Savner MLA Ashish Deshmukh proposed extending the upcoming Nagpur Metro Phase-III corridor from Koradi to Khaparkheda. Deshmukh met with MahaMetro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar to present the proposal and formally discuss its feasibility.
◷ 2025-10-21 | ☍Times of IndiaMahaMetro has finalised a new corridor connecting Sitabuldi and Koradi under Nagpur Metro Phase 3, as part of the city’s Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP). The decision was taken during a high-level meeting on 27 July 2025 attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and senior officials.
◷ 2025-08-05 | ☍Construction WorldWhile the construction of Nagpur Metro Phase 2 is progressing at a steady pace, a new metro corridor connecting Sitabuldi and Koradi has been finalised under Nagpur Metro Phase 3. The route is a part of the recently unveiled Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) that aims to enhance connectivity in the city.
◷ 2025-07-31 | ☍Metro Rail NewsColossus Infra Projects Pvt Ltd will provide train operation and station control services for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project for a period of 2 years (730 days). Colossus Infra Projects Pvt Ltd has received this contract from Maha-Metro (Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation). The value of the contract is Rs 21.2 crore. The Nagpur Metro Rail Project will be completed in two phases. Currently, the first phase of Nagpur Metro is fully operational, while the second phase is under construction.
◷ 2025-07-21 | ☍Metro Rail NewsAccording to data released by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro), the Nagpur Metro has crossed the 10 crore total passengers mark. The system, which began commercial operations in March 2019, has seen a steady increase in the number of passengers over the last six years.
◷ 2025-07-18 | ☍Times of IndiaMahaMetro is set to replace its existing closed-loop Maha Cards with an open-loop Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system worth ₹154.3 crore. The move is aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and aligning with the national "one nation, one card" initiative. Currently, Nagpur Metro passengers use closed-loop Maha Cards, which are valid only within the city's metro network.
◷ 2025-07-16 | ☍Times of IndiaMaha-Metro (Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation) has awarded two major signalling and telecom contracts worth a total of Rs 773 crore to Siemens Limited for Phase 2 of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project. The contract includes design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of advanced signalling and telecom technologies for Phase 2 and Phase 1 extension of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project.
◷ 2025-07-14 | ☍Metro Rail NewsThe MoU, signed at the NHAI regional office in Nagpur, allows MahaMetro to use NHAI's Right of Way (RoW) for constructing elevated Metro corridors along two key routes — from Jamtha to Butibori on NH-44 (Butibori stretch) and from HB Town to Transport Nagar on NH-53 (Pardi stretch).
◷ 2025-06-30 | ☍The Times of IndiaChanging the urban transport infrastructure of the city, MahaMetro (Nagpur Metro) and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable the construction of Metro viaducts and parallel two 6-lane flyovers along critical stretches of the national highway as part of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project Phase 2 on Friday.
◷ 2025-06-30 | ☍The Times of IndiaThe second phase of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project will receive a total funding of Rs 3,586 crore from ADB and European Investment Bank (EIB). Of this, Rs 1,527 crore will be provided by ADB, for which the agreement was signed on Tuesday. The Nagpur Metro Rail Project Phase-II will cover a total distance of 43.8 km, consisting of four routes.
◷ 2024-12-20 | ☍Indian ExpressMaharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) have launched feeder bus services to connect metro stations to major educational institutions in Nagpur. The service began with the operation of 32 buses, of which 10 buses are dedicated to routes serving students. Feeder bus service started from Government College of Engineering at Wardha Road to New Airport Metro Station from 26 November 2024.
◷ 2024-11-29 | ☍Times of IndiaWith digital payment modes becoming commonplace nowadays and automation increasing rapidly across the country, Maha Metro Nagpur has combined both the concepts to provide a seamless metro ride. Nagpur Metro has installed Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) at almost all the metro stations.
◷ 2024-03-15 | ☍Nagpur TodayThe central government has already provided ₹6,708 crore for the construction of the second phase of the metro rail network in Nagpur and it is expected to be completed by 2027. The Center considers funding for a metro project in any state depending on the feasibility of the proposal and the availability of resources. Union Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in response to a question by Ramtek MP Kripal Tumane in Parliament, said that funds have already been set aside for the second phase of Nagpur Metro.
◷ 2023-12-22 | ☍Times of IndiaWork on the ambitious Phase II of Nagpur Metro, aimed at providing a mass rapid transit system to urban growth centers bordering the city, has formally begun on Wednesday, 23 November 2023. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 6,708 crore. It aims to expand the current network by adding 43.8 km of metro routes to cater to the rapidly growing metropolitan area of Nagpur district.
◷ 2023-11-25 | ☍Nagpur TodayNagpur Metro has decided to increase the frequency of Nagpur Metro services from Monday, September 18, in view of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. According to a press release issued by the agency, trains will run at an interval of 10 minutes from 8 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 7 pm instead of the earlier 15 minutes. The agency said this would effectively increase the frequency of train services by about 25%.

◷ 2023-08-29 | ☍India TVAccording to officials from Maharashtra Metro Railway Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro), the metro stretches from Garware College to Ruby Hall Clinic on Corridor-1 and Civil Court to Phugewadi on Corridor-2 will be operational for passenger service by the end of July.

◷ 2020-08-09 | ☍The HitavadaMaha Metro's Landline Numbers got Hacked leading to INR 9.84 lakh Bill. The BSNL based landline numbers of the said office were used to make some ISDS calls generating that huge amount of bill in a month. As per reports, the Additional Chief Project Manager Mr. Ashish Kumar T Sandhi of Telecom Maha Metro lodged a complaint at the Sadar Police station informing the same.
