The Khemichak Interchange Metro Station—the first of its kind for the Patna Metro—is set to become the city's primary connectivity hub. From this station, trains on Corridor 1 will travel via Jaganpura and Mithapur to reach Patna Junction. Meanwhile, trains on Corridor 2 will proceed to Patna Junction via Malahi Pakri, Rajendra Nagar, PMCH, and Gandhi Maidan. A significant highlight is that Patna Junction is also being developed as an interchange station; in fact, it will be the largest interchange station in the network. Consequently, passengers departing from the Khemichak Metro Station will be able to travel with ease to various parts of Patna.

The Patna Metro Depot, being developed near the New Pataliputra Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Bairiya Chak in Sampatchak, is nearing completion. Spread over 32.77 hectares, this depot will not only be a parking space for trains; it will also be a powerful hub monitoring every activity across the city's metro network. Called the "brain" of the Patna Metro, controllers at this depot will be able to track which train is at which station and its actual speed through large screens and sensors installed in the main command center. In case of any emergency, instructions will be issued to trains from here to ensure the safety of passengers.

The Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) is nearing completion of the final two elevated stations—Malahi Pakadi and Khemnichak—on its priority metro corridor. Both stations are now in the final stages of construction, and metro services on this extended section are expected to begin by the end of this month.

पटना मेट्रो रेल परियोजना के प्राथमिकता वाले कॉरिडोर पर स्थित दो अतिरिक्त स्टेशन निर्माण कार्य पूरा होने के कगार पर हैं और अगले महीने यात्रियों के लिए खुलने की उम्मीद है। अधिकारियों ने पुष्टि की है कि नवनिर्मित खंड का निरीक्षण जल्द ही मेट्रो रेल सुरक्षा आयुक्त (सीएमआरएस) द्वारा किया जाएगा। निरीक्षण के दौरान सामने आने वाली किसी भी समस्या का तुरंत समाधान किया जाएगा, जिसके बाद अधिकारी औपचारिक उद्घाटन कार्यक्रम की घोषणा कर सकते हैं। सोमवार (12 जनवरी) को शहरी विकास एवं आवास विभाग के सचिव और पटना मेट्रो रेल निगम लिमिटेड (पीएमआरसीएल) के प्रबंध निदेशक संदीप कुमार आर पुडकलकट्टी की अध्यक्षता में हुई एक उच्च स्तरीय बैठक के दौरान परियोजना की प्रगति की समीक्षा की गई।

The Patna Metro expansion project is rapidly progressing to its final stages. Construction on two new stations, Khemnichak and Malahi Pakadi, is nearly complete, and they are expected to open by February 2026. Once inaugurated, the metro will run from ISBT to Bhootnath via Khemnichak to Malahi Pakadi, a total distance of 6.5 km. Currently, the metro only operates from ISBT to Zero Mile and Bhootnath.

A trial run of the water metro service took place in Patna on Sunday. The MV Gomadharkunwar, operated by the Inland Waterways Authority of India, sailed from Gaighat Jetty to NIT Ghat. Once final technical approval is received, the vessel will be handed over to the Tourism Development Corporation for operation.

The Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (APMRC) has decided to allow joint ventures (JVs) comprising a maximum number of companies to participate in the bidding for the Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro rail projects. APMRC Managing Director NP Ramakrishna Reddy said in a press release that the permission granted to joint ventures is aimed at ensuring wider participation of eligible bidders and completing the projects within 36 months through competent firms with a proven track record of completing large projects.

Patna Metro train has successfully completed its first trial run on the elevated track. The first fitness trial run of Patna Metro was successfully conducted from Patna Depot to Bhootnath Metro Station on Sunday. The trial covered a distance of about 4.5 km and passed through three stations - ISBT (Patliputra Bus Terminal), Zero Mile and Bhootnath. For safety reasons, the trial was conducted at low speed.
