Work on Corridor 2 of the Patna Metro has entered a crucial phase, with tunneling officially beginning between PMCH station and Gandhi Maidan. The first tunnel boring machine (TBM) has already excavated approximately 20 meters, while preparations are underway for the second TBM to begin work. Officials expect the second machine to begin work within a week, completing the completion of this crucial section of the city's underground network.

Construction of two additional stations on the priority corridor of the Patna Metro Rail Project is nearing completion and is expected to open to passengers next month. Officials have confirmed that the newly constructed section will soon be inspected by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). Any issues found during the inspection will be resolved immediately, after which officials may announce a formal inauguration schedule. The project's progress was reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Sandeep Kumar R. Pudkalkatti, Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department and Managing Director, Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL), on Monday (January 12).

The Patna Metro expansion project is rapidly progressing to its final stages. Construction on two new stations, Khemnichak and Malahi Pakadi, is nearly complete, and they are expected to open by February 2026. Once inaugurated, the metro will run from ISBT to Bhootnath via Khemnichak to Malahi Pakadi, a total distance of 6.5 km. Currently, the metro only operates from ISBT to Zero Mile and Bhootnath.

A trial run of the water metro service took place in Patna on Sunday. The MV Gomadharkunwar, operated by the Inland Waterways Authority of India, sailed from Gaighat Jetty to NIT Ghat. Once final technical approval is received, the vessel will be handed over to the Tourism Development Corporation for operation.

The Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (APMRC) has decided to allow joint ventures (JVs) comprising a maximum number of companies to participate in the bidding for the Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada metro rail projects. APMRC Managing Director NP Ramakrishna Reddy said in a press release that the permission granted to joint ventures is aimed at ensuring wider participation of eligible bidders and completing the projects within 36 months through competent firms with a proven track record of completing large projects.

Patna Metro train has successfully completed its first trial run on the elevated track. The first fitness trial run of Patna Metro was successfully conducted from Patna Depot to Bhootnath Metro Station on Sunday. The trial covered a distance of about 4.5 km and passed through three stations - ISBT (Patliputra Bus Terminal), Zero Mile and Bhootnath. For safety reasons, the trial was conducted at low speed.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday asked the concerned officials to ensure quality construction and smooth progress of the Patna Metro Rail Project. He conducted a field inspection of the major facilities of the project which are nearing completion. While reviewing the project, the Chief Minister said, "I have regularly inspected the work being done under the project to ensure quality work and I have also asked the officials to ensure that there are no obstacles in the construction work."

Bihar's Urban Development and Housing Minister Jiwesh Mishra has hinted at the postponement of the inauguration of Patna Metro. He recently said that earlier the date for the launch of the metro service was fixed for 15 August, but now the inauguration may take some more time. Now an emotional post has been made by Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited (PMRCL) also hinting at this. PMCRL said that the wait may be long, but the promise is true.

New information has emerged regarding the inauguration of Patna Metro. Earlier the metro service was expected to start on August 15, but now it will start on August 23. Along with this, the metro will be operated for passengers from three stations instead of five stations initially. However, the trial run from Bairia Metro Station to Metro Depot has already started successfully, which indicates that the project is in its final stage.

After the Rs 6250 crore civil contract of the Vizag Metro project, the Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (APMRCL) has invited bids for the first civil contract of the Vijayawada Metro Rail Project, costing Rs 4150 crore. This contract includes the design and construction of 38.40 km long viaduct, 1 underground metro station and 32 elevated metro stations for the first phase of the project.

Now only 19 days are left for the dream of Patna Metro to come true. After 19 days, the first train of Patna Metro will start running on the tracks. Patna Metro is to be inaugurated by CM Nitish Kumar on 15th August and for this, work is going on day and night on a war footing. The work of laying tracks on the priority corridor has also been completed. The work of stations is in its final stage.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Jibesh Kumar on Saturday inspected the construction work of the priority corridor between Malahi Pakri and New ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal) of the ambitious Patna Metro Rail Project. This elevated corridor, to be known as the 'Blue Line', is likely to be inaugurated on August 15 this year. He took stock of all the facilities including stations, laying of tracks, installation of electric poles as well as other ongoing electrical and mechanical works. The minister said that the aim is to make Patna a metro city by starting the work of the elevated section of Corridor-2 by August 15.

The Patna Metro Rail project has gained momentum as the first three-coach train has departed. This progress comes after the Bihar government approved the hiring of a three-coach single train set metro from Pune Metro for three years. On 15 July 2025, the Bihar Cabinet approved ₹21.15 crore for hiring a 3-coach trainset from Pune Metro to start services on the priority corridor of the Patna Metro Rail project. The priority corridor is the elevated section of Corridor 2 and is 6.49 km long.

The first rack of Patna Metro has reached Patna via road from Alstom Company's factory located in Savli (Vadodara), Gujarat. This rack has been unloaded at the depot area built on Pier No. 133 near the city bypass through a special trailer. With this, the process of technical inspection and trial run is going to start under the Metro Rail project, which is a big step towards modern transportation for the city residents.

Metro work is progressing rapidly in Bihar's capital Patna. Somewhere the overhead station is being constructed, somewhere the tunnel is being dug. Currently, digging has started from the shaft built on the other side of the Moinul Haque Stadium to prepare the last tunnel of Corridor Two. This is the last tunnel of Corridor Two.

The work of the first phase of Patna Metro project is now in its final stage. Urban Development Minister Jiwesh Kumar Ranjan said that all the metro stations will be fully ready by July 15. Preparations are on to start the trial and operation of the metro before August 15. There are five stations on this 6.2 kilometer long primary route. This route running till ISBT Zero Mile, Bhootnath, Khemnichak and Malahi Pakadi station has been named 'Priority Corridor'. Its length is about 6.2 kilometers.
