Bangalore Fort, located in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, is a highly historic monument. Initially established as a mud fort in 1537 by Kempegowda I, the founder of Bangalore, in 1761, it was rebuilt with granite stone by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore, and his son, Tipu Sultan, used it as an important military base. In 1791, during the Third Anglo-Mysore War, the British army led by Lord Cornwallis captured it. Today, only a small portion of this massive fort remains, with its famous Delhi Gate, carved arches, protective bastions, and a historic Ganesha temple within the complex being the main attractions. The fort is a striking symbol of South India's military history, architecture, and the struggles of the British period.
