The 16th century Belapur Fort is a living testimony to Siddi architecture in Mumbai. Siddis constructed the fort atop a hill on an island called Shahbaz. Belapur harbor was located adjacent to the fort from where the boats sailed up the Panvel creek. The fort has a deep-rooted history and has witnessed the transition of ownership. It attracts visitors and tourists from all over and one cannot but marvel at the remarkable examplar of the sea fort architecture.
