Marudhamalai Temple is a well-known 12th-century hill temple. It was built during the Sangam period by the Tamil kings. It is regarded as the 7th House of Lord Murugan. The presiding deity of the temple is Marudhamalai. Around this temple there are several water bodies such as Snake Charmer’s spring, Maruda Theertham, these are known to possess some medicinal properties. At the southern end of the temple, there is a staircase that takes you to Pambatti Siddhar cave. A connecting tunnel that takes one from Lord Murugan's sanctum sanctorum to Siddhar's cave was built by Siddhar. It is believed that this place was used to worship the Lord. Read more.. Read less
