Borra Caves, Visakhapatnam
At an altitude of 1400 m above sea level, located in the Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley Borra Caves is one of the largest in the country. A temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is present on account of several prevalent folklores. The caves are a result of the activity of Gosthani River on limestone area which results in the conversion of calcium carbonate into calcium bicarbonate and leads to the formation of splendid speleothems. The beautiful shadow and light effect that can be witnessed through the entire depth of the cave makes it enigmatic. Colonies of bats, the golden gecko can be spotted here.
