It is one of the oldest buildings in the city of Indore. The seven-storied structure dates back two centuries and was constructed by the Holkars of the Maratha dynasty. It displays a mixture of Maratha, Mughal, and french style of architecture. The palatial building has a magnificent wooden gate and is guarded by bastions on all the sides. Its beautifully styled courtyard, elaborate balconies, and windows allow one to peek into the opulent past. Other attractions include a well-maintained garden, an artificial waterfall, a statue of queen Ahilya Bai, beautiful fountains and Sarafa Bazar in the vicinity.
