About Lal Bagh Palace
Lal Bagh Palace is one of the most admired and grand monuments of Indore city, situated on the banks of Khan River on the outskirts of Indore. This palace was built by Maharaja Shivaji Rao Holkar in 1921. The building is three-storeyed and is the place where many royal receptions were held. The Government of Madhya Pradesh is converting the palace into a cultural center and it has now been converted into a museum.
Architecture of Lal Bagh Palace
Lal Bagh Palace is spread over an area of 28 hectares. The ground floor entrance hall is made of marble and displays many prehistoric artifacts. The first floor houses a magnificent collection of coins and many of these coins date back to the Muslim era. The architecture reflects the Italian Renaissance Revival style, making it one of the finest neo-classical buildings in India.
