About Augharnath Mandir

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Augarnath Temple is located in the cantonment area of Meerut city. Augharnath Temple is also known as Kalipaltan Temple. The Shiva Linga present in this temple is believed to be swayambhu or self-manifested, thus very popular among worshipers of Shiva. This is the place where the soldiers of the War of 1857 planned their campaigns. It has two temples, the Lord Shiva temple and the recently constructed Shri Krishna temple. The Augharnath temple is one of the most important sites and is very popular among tourists who come because of a certain belief.

Architecture of Augharnath Mandir

The architectural beauty and history of Augarnath temple is very good. Built in the traditional Hindu temple architectural style, the four gopurams or main entrance gates all have an interesting history, and were built by various rulers such as Krishna Deva Raya, Sevappa Nayakar, etc. The temple is full of intricate carvings of Sanskrit scriptures.
