Ganges Barrage Kanpur Bridge was inaugurated in the year 2000 and is located in Azad Nagar, Nawabganj, Kanpur. It is a huge dam across the Ganges River. The bridge is approximately 621-meters and serves as a four-lane well maintained highway bypass for National Highway 91. The bridge is found in the middle of abundant greenery and has continuous flow of water under the bridge making it a must-see place on the highway. During monsoons people gather here to enjoy the scenic beauty of this place. You will also see a lot of people coming for picnics at Atal Ghat. To attract the crowd there are several Maggie points and tea stalls, which is an added attraction for the tourists and the locals alike.
Kanpur Memorial Church, Kanpur
Kanpur Memorrial Church is situated in the calm environs of the cantonment area. Also famous as All Souls Cathedral, this church was constructed in the year 1875 to pay respect to the British lives that were lost in the1857 movement. It was designed by an architect Walter Granville, the church exhibits Lombardic Gothic architecture. There is a huge garden in the the eastern section of the church. In the middle of the church you will see a marvellously carved figurine of an angel created by Baron Carlo Marochetti. The angel holds sign of peace in her crossed arms, which is a divine sight.
Kamla Retreat, Kanpur
Situated within the HBTI premises, Kamla Retreat is a beautiful estate that is owned by the famous Singhania group of Kanpur. Kamla Retreat is a scenic destination with well-manicured gardens and parks. The retreat even comprises of a chain of canals, where people coming here can indulge in enjoyable boat rides with stunning greenery on both sides. The highlight of this place is a museum that houses an enormous compilation of archaeological and historical artifacts. The wave pool present here is an added attraction in Kamla Retreat. It is a personal property, so permission for entry can only be granted by the Deputy General Manager.
Phool Bagh and Kanpur Museum, Kanpur
Located in the heart of the city, Phool Bagh, an urban park attracts people in large number all round the year. The park was initially called the Queen’s Park and has a lot of historical significance with oldest gardens in town. Lot of political rallies and meetings were held in this park regarding independence. It is a famous recreational spot and has a lot of space for morning and evening jogs and walks. It also houses Kanpur Museum that has a display of documents and artefacts from the olden times to the contemporary times. A library with a huge collection of books and Union Club of Cawnpore is also within the premises. Other than this there are statues of freedom fighters like Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, Mahatma Gandhi and B.R Ambedkar. 150 feet tall flag was hoisted in this park in 2019. During the Indian festivals like Holi, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi many religious ceremonies take place over here.
