Bithoor, Kanpur
Bithoor is approximately 21 km from the city of Kanpur and is a significant site as far as history of India and Hindu religion are concerned. Huge rallies took place in Bithoor against the East India company and it was one of the chief epicentre of 1857 revolt. The fable
has it that after the devastation of the cosmos and restoration of the universe by Lord Vishnu, The creator Lord Brahma chose this place to perform the holy yagna and henceforth named the town, Brahmavart.
