About Amber Fort and Palace
Amer Fort is one of the largest forts of Rajasthan, which is situated on the Aravalli hills at a distance of about 11 km from Jaipur. The fort was built by Raja Mansingh in the 16th century. After which the successors and rulers of Raja Mansingh did the work of expansion and renovation of this fort for about 150 years. Earlier this place was named Kadimi Mahal which is the oldest palace in India. This fort is famous for its unique architectural style and magnificent structure.
Interesting facts about Amber Fort and Palace
- The roofs of Amer Fort have been painted with gold water in many places, due to which the roofs here keep shining even in the light of light.
- When we leave from Jalebi Chowk towards Amer Fort, there is a temple built there which is called the temple of Shila Devi. It was worshiped by the kings here till the 1980s.
- When the king and other prominent people entered the palace, drums were played to welcome them. Even today those drums are kept in the fort of Amer, which is called Swagat Dhol. You can come here and see these drums.
- Diwan-i-Aam located in the palace is a place where common people used to hold their court. Here the king listened to the problems of the subjects and used to solve them.
- Diwan-i-Khas was built for the rest of the prominent people of the state. The roofs and walls of this palace are covered with glass which were imported from Belgium.
- In the 17th century, Sawai Jai Singh II tried to cultivate saffron here. But saffron could not grow here because it needs cold to grow while Rajasthan is a hot region.
- Sheesh Mahal - The idol of Ganesh ji has been made at the main entrance of this palace, where there are three doors. From these doors the queens used to watch the king returning from the war. The upper part of this palace was called Suhag Mandir because only married women could sit here.
- You will also find a Mughal style fireplace in the Amer Fort which was used to heat water.
- A flower has been made on the wall in the fort of Amer, in which a total of 9 figures have been made by combining animals and birds. These figures are two snakes, scorpion, elephant, rabbit, crab, fish, bee and butterfly.

From Airport: You can board a bus from the airport to Amer Fort, and the journey will take around 1.5 hours. It will take only 20 minutes to reach Amer Fort by taxi.

By Railway:- The nearest railway station to Amer Fort is Dahar ka Balaji Railway Station located at a distance of 6 km.
