Cherai Beach, Kochi

The Pallipuram panchayat, which includes Cherai, is at the northern end of Waypen. The place is a unique combination of sea and backwaters surrounded by lush green coconut palms and paddy fields. The 15 km long golden beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Kerala.

1. Famous for the rustic images of Chinese fishing nets from its sands, Cherai is one of the most visited beaches in Kochi. The seashores at Cherai Beach are unique and swimmers have been known to run into dolphins in the water.
2. Beach frontage and backwater frontage have given Cherai such a wonderful natural beauty that it is doubtful whether such beauty sites exist anywhere in Kerala. Along with this there is a chance to witness the rural life of an elite class where shrimp farming is done in every corner.
3. The sight of coconut groves swaying in the wind and the long line of paddy fields have made Cherai a favorite destination for globe trotters.
4. The oysters found here are unique and dolphins are often encountered in this area. It is a perfect blend of both backwater and sea. Many new resorts and hotels have come up in this area itself, which has increased the tourist activities.
