About Marble Palace
Marble Palace located in Thakurpukur is one of the most popular tourist attractions of the city. The palace was built in the year 1835 by Raja Rajendra Malik who was a prominent businessman, art lover and philanthropist. The entire palace has been built with marble stones, where you can see objects like Chinese sculpture, paintings, chandeliers, clocks, urns etc. Apart from the palace, there is also a zoo, which is the first zoo opened in India. It has some species of birds and deer and other small animals. Crowds of tourists can be seen here throughout the year.

The Marble Palace is a three-storey building built in the Neoclassical style. It has long fluted Corinthian columns and ornate verandahs with fretted and sloping roofs, and is built in the style of a Chinese pavilion.
