About Ganesh Pol Gateway
The Ganesh Pol Gateway is a famous historical gateway located on Amer Road in Devisinghpura, Amer district, Rajasthan. It was built in the early 17th century during the rule of Raja Man Singh I of the Kachwaha dynasty. The gateway served as the main entrance to Amer Fort, connecting the fort to the surrounding city. Ganesh Pol was designed as a beautiful and secure entrance between the royal residential area and the public part of the fort. Its main purpose was to give the king and royal family a sacred and lucky entry. A image of Lord Ganesha is placed above the gate, as Ganesha is believed to remove obstacles and bring good luck. Raja Man Singh built the gate thinking that Ganesha’s presence would protect the fort and the royal family. The gate combines defense and beauty, with elephant-shaped doors, murals, and religious symbols showing both royal power and devotion.
