About Govind Dev Ji Temple

Govind Dev Ji's temple dedicated to Shri Krishna is one of the most sacred places in India. It is located in the City Palace complex in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Raja Man Singh built the temple in the year 1590. This Vaishnava temple is considered to be one of the most sacred and important temples for the devotees.

The temple is surrounded by beautiful gardens and inside one can see some beautiful European chandeliers and paintings in Indian art. Govind Dev Ji Temple is constructed from sand and marble stone. The idol of Lord Krishna is made of black stone while the idol of Radha is made of metal.

  2. In this temple, "aarti" and "bhog" are offered seven times a day, when the deity is unveiled for "darshan". Thousands of devotees visit the temple daily during Janmashtami and even more in numbers.
  3. The air fills with chants of "Jai Govind", as devotees flock to the temple to catch a glimpse of the deities. Devotional music and bhajans are sung by the devotees in the temple.
  4. Bhog is served in silver containers and mostly consists of different types of sweets. Before the aarti, the idols are embellished and dressed differently each time they appear before the devotees and the deity looks stunningly beautiful.
  5. Govind Dev Ji Temple: "Bajrakrit" holy temple. Also called the 'Mini Vrindavan' of Jaipur, this temple is located in the Jai Niwas Garden of the City Palace complex. The temple is dedicated to Lord Govind Dev Ji, who is also addressed by the people as the "Adorable God of Jaipur".
