About Jaipur Zoo

Located near Ram Niwas Udyan in Jaipur, the Zoological Garden was built by Raja Sawai Pratap in 1868. This zoo is one of the popular tourist places in Jaipur, which is home to more than 70 species of animals, birds and reptiles.

The zoo, opened in 1877, is divided into two parts: one for mammals and the other for birds and reptiles. The main objective of the zoo is to complement the national effort in the conservation of wildlife.

The zoo is spread over a total area of 35 acres. Apart from being the largest zoo, it claims to be one of the finest sanctuaries in the state. The Zoological Park is also the country's fourth largest gharial (an endangered crocodile species) breeding area.

A zoo is a facility where animals, birds and other species are kept.
On the basis of animal families living within the zoological park, the park is divided into two parts.
An ideal zoo complex has a green campus.
Presently, the only sustainable breeding program is alligator breeding. Each animal is provided with a enclosure according to its natural habitat and behaviour.
By 2018, the government has decided to build bigger cages here. This park, run by the state government of Rajasthan, is one of the famous places for picnic trips in schools.

By Road

The distance from Jaipur city center to the Jaipur Zoo is about 3.7 km. Visitors can catch local rickshaw and cab service or bus to reach the zoo.

By air

if you are traveling by air the nearest airport is Jaipur Airport which is 10.2 km and can take up to 30 minutes if you use local transportation service including rickshaw and bus service.

By Rail

The nearest railway station from Jaipur Zoo, Jaipur Junction railway station is around 5 km. There is a rickshaw service available near the station that will drop the visitors directly at the Zoo and local bus service from the station is also available for travellers.
