About Bhimashankar Trek

Bhimashankar Temple has ancient roots with references going back to several historical scriptures. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, making it a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus. The legend associated with this temple is that Lord Shiva defeated the demon Tripurasura here, and the sweat that poured off his body is believed to have formed the Bhima River.

The Bhimashankar Temple exhibits the classic Nagara style of architecture, characterized by a spire or 'shikhara'. The wooden entrance of the temple is intricately designed, and the temple complex has a large bell crafted by the Portuguese. By Air: The closest airport is Pune International Airport. After landing, one can take a cab or bus to reach the destination.

By Bus: State-run buses are available from Mumbai and Pune to Bhimashankar.

By Metro: Mumbai's metro doesn't connect directly to Bhimashankar. One would need to deboard at an appropriate station and continue by road.
