About Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, formerly known as Victoria Terminus but was renamed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in the year 1996. It was built as a railway station in the year 1853 which was established as Bori Bunder Railway Station. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus was constructed on 20 June 1887. In the year 1997, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai was included in the World Heritage Site under UNESCO.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus presents a beautiful example of Indian architecture and Victorian Italian Gothic architecture. The terminus was designed by British-born architectural engineer Frederick William Stevens in an exuberant Italian Gothic style from initial designs by Axel Haig.
