Mangalagiri is a small town situated between the twin cities of Guntur in Vijayawada. The city's name is derived from mangla meaning auspicious and giri meaning hill in the local language and has been in existence since 225 BC. It is a cultural center and is known for its many attractive and bustling temples.
The unique feature of the temple located here is that the idol actually drinks panakam and the sound of thunder is heard. It also has an impressive gopuram (tower) which is considered to be one of the tallest in South India. This city attracts a lot of tourists.
