About Bapu Museum
Bapu Museum was earlier known as Victoria Museum and is located as an archaeological museum on MG Vijayawada Road. The museum was built in 1887 as part of the celebrations of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee and is where the Father of the Nation added a wheel to the tricolor flag. The museum is maintained by the Department of Archeology and houses a large collection of sculptures, paintings and artifacts of Buddhist and Hindu relics, some of which date back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries.
The museum has a sculptor of Buddha made of granite, another statue of Shiva from the 4-5th century and a white lime statue of Buddha, which are a major attraction here.

The museum is built in ashlar masonry typical of Indo-European architecture and the building is over 132 years old.
