About Zero Mile Marker
The Zero Mile Stone is a monument locating the geographical center of colonial India in the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra. Zero Milestone was created in 1907 by the British who used this point to measure all distances.
The monument consists of a main pillar made of sandstone, another smaller stone depicting the GTS standard benchmark and four horses added later. The height of the main pillar is 1020.171 feet above sea level.

- It dates back to around 1900s which makes it over a hundred years old.
- In 2008, The Times of India undertook to maintain the memorial for the next 5 years.
- The British rulers considered Nagpur to be the center of India and hence identified this point and built Zero Mile Stone.
- Situated in the center of the country, the British intended to make Nagpur the second capital.
- Zero milestone shows the geographical center of our country and shows the direction board across India.
