Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRCL) conducted the first successful trial run through the westbound tunnel of the Kolkata Metro's Green Line in West Bengal, India, on the Sealdah-Esplanade section, which has only one station, Bowbazar. Once operational, the Sealdah-Esplanade section is expected to provide an advanced transport system for the people of Kolkata and its suburbs. It helps people to reach Kolkata and surrounding areas from Sealdah and Howrah.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) on Sunday, January 19 announced the route map for the second phase of the metro extension. This new route will connect Miyapur to Patancheru, covering a distance of 13.4 km and includes ten proposed stations including Patancheru, Miyapur, Alwyn X Road, Madinaguda, Chanda Nagar, Jyothi Nagar, BHEL, RC Puram and Beeramguda. However, these station names are tentative and are subject to change.

Communication-based train control signalling work for the entire Howrah Maidan to Sector V section of Kolkata Metro's East-West Metro began on 12 January 2025, a landmark step towards connecting Howrah to Sealdah, two of the busiest stations of Eastern Railway. The East-West Metro, also known as the Green Line, will save around 90 minutes for daily commuters.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has planned to use artificial intelligence (AI) and drones to monitor the safety of concrete structures, including bridges and pillars. Drones equipped with high-resolution camera equipment will collect data on structural conditions. The AI ​​tools will analyse the data to detect problems such as cracks, deterioration or honeycomb patterns in the concrete.

Industries Minister P. Rajeev flagged off Kochi Metro's electric feeder buses Metro Connect. Of the 15 buses, four will ply on the Aluva-Airport route, running every 20 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during off-peak hours from 6:45 am to 11 pm. The fare for a journey up to 5 km in regular AC feeder buses is ₹20, while the same buses with relatively larger seats will cost ₹80 for travelling in the longer Aluva-International Airport corridor.

Do's & don'ts while traveling by metro

  • Keep yourself before yellow line before boarding (generally all platform have it).
  • Keep gap and distance from doors to allow other passengers to board the train.
  • If Station staff suggest something please follow the instructions.
  • Take care of your loose items like Saree, Dupatta, Dhoti and Bag etc. while boarding and de-boarding the train.
  • Take care of your Bag/Purse/Luggage/Mobile while traveling or waiting at metro stations.
  • Inform train operator in case any passenger/article stuck between train doors by pressing Passenger Emergency Alarm button/Handle.
  • Take care and keep eye on the children & infants while traveling with them.
  • Do not push co-passengers while boarding or de-boarding.
  • Do not make noise or play music openly in train and metro premise.
  • Do not fight with other passengers, if there is any issue get help from metro security.
  • Do not try to enter/exit when train doors are being close. better late than never.
  • Do not obstruct the closing of the train doors.
  • Show your metro smart card or token at the entry gate or exit gate for the opening of flaps.
  • Use of smart card gives you 10% discount on travel fee.
  • Please ensure that entry or exit with a travel smart card was followed by a valid the system. In case of mismatch penalty will be payable as per business rule of metro department.
  • Carrying token beyond exit gate is a punishable offence and attracts a fine or imprisonment.
  • The refund of unused token can be returned within 60 minutes of purchase from purchasing station only.
