- Nagpur Metro is a rapid transit system for the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.
- Nagpur Metro Metro project was conceived during the year 2012, this time Nagpur city population more than 20 lakh.
- 22 February 2012, the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) signed an agreement with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

- Nagpur Metro (aka Maha Metro) is a rapid transit system for the city of Nagpur, India.
- The network aim is to reduce the congestion on roads, will help to reduce pollution, providing comfortable, reliable and timely transportation at an affordable cost.
- On 20 August 2014, Union Cabinet gave approval for the development of project, and PM Narendra Modi laid foundation stone on 21 August on his visit to the city.
- On 8 March 2019, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated operations via video conferencing along with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and UCM Nitin Gadkari.
- DMRC & RITES has been appointed as Interim Consultants. ERNST & YOUNG LLP has been appointed as Consultant for "Smart Card and Automatic Fare Collection System".
- Nagpur Metro has currently two active lines. Line 1 (Orange) from Sitabuldi to Khapri. Line 2 (Aqua) from Sitabuldi to Lokmanya Nagar.
- Nagpur Metro Rail Project will consist of 38.215 Km metro corridor, 38 stations and 2 Depots. The entire stretch will be divided into 2 alignments or corridors North – South Corridor (18 staitons) and East – West Corridor (20 stations).
- There will be 19 Feeder routes covering all stations to provide first & last mile connectivity, Feeder Services such as Shuttle Buses, Battery Operated Vehicles, Pedestrian Facilities & Bicycles.
- Metro has automatic fare collection system with combination of smart cards & computerized paper tickets.
- Metro services starts from 05:00 am to 00:00 midnight.
- Maha-Metro has taken certain PD initiatives so that the overall city infrastructure can be uplifted & promoted. This shall benefit the metro commuters by providing one stop solution to its needs. These initiatives shall also lead to generation of non-fare box revenue for Maha-Metro.

Nagpur Metro News & Updates
Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha Metro) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) have launched feeder bus services to connect metro stations to major educational institutions in Nagpur. The service began with the operation of 32 buses, of which 10 buses are dedicated to routes serving students. Feeder bus service started from Government College of Engineering at Wardha Road to New Airport Metro Station from 26 November 2024.

Nagpur Metro has installed Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) at almost all the metro stations.
◷ 2024-03-15 | ☍ Nagpur TodayThe central government has already provided ₹6,708 crore for the construction of the second phase of the metro rail network in Nagpur and it is expected to be completed by 2027. The Center considers funding for a metro project in any state depending on the feasibility of the proposal and the availability of resources. Union Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in response to a question by Ramtek MP Kripal Tumane in Parliament, said that funds have already been set aside for the second phase of Nagpur Metro.
◷ 2023-12-22 | ☍ Times of IndiaWork on the ambitious Phase II of Nagpur Metro, aimed at providing a mass rapid transit system to urban growth centers bordering the city, has formally begun on Wednesday, 23 November 2023. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 6,708 crore. It aims to expand the current network by adding 43.8 km of metro routes to cater to the rapidly growing metropolitan area of Nagpur district.
◷ 2023-11-25 | ☍ Nagpur TodayNagpur Metro has decided to increase the frequency of Nagpur Metro services from Monday, September 18, in view of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. According to a press release issued by the agency, trains will run at an interval of 10 minutes from 8 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 7 pm instead of the earlier 15 minutes. The agency said this would effectively increase the frequency of train services by about 25%.
