2026-02-06 - The Kanpur Metro project made progress as the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRCL) conducted a test run on Corridor 1 of the Kanpur Metro project, which stretches 23.785 km between IIT Kanpur and Naubasta and includes 21 stations. The UPMRCL successfully completed the first test run on the 'Up-Line' of Corridor 1 from Kanpur Central to Naubasta. The test was conducted in the presence of Mr. Sushil Kumar, Managing Director, UPMRC. He also inspected the track, third rail, power supply, and signaling system of Line 1.

2026-01-13 - कानपुर मेट्रो ने कॉरिडोर-1 के 5.3 km लंबे बारादेवी-नौबस्ता एलिवेटेड सेक्शन पर थर्ड रेल पावर सिस्टम को सफलतापूर्वक इंस्टॉल करके कंस्ट्रक्शन में एक अहम मील का पत्थर हासिल किया है। यह सेक्शन IIT कानपुर से नौबस्ता तक जाता है। यह सेक्शन कानपुर सेंट्रल और नौबस्ता के बीच बचे हुए सेक्शन का हिस्सा है। कानपुर मेट्रो नेटवर्क पर चलने वाली ट्रेनें 750-वोल्ट DC थर्ड रेल सिस्टम का इस्तेमाल करती हैं। इंस्टॉलेशन का काम ट्रैक बिछाने के साथ-साथ किया गया, ताकि पूरे कंस्ट्रक्शन टाइमलाइन में कम से कम देरी हो।

2025-09-23 - Kanpur Metro has achieved a significant milestone in the underground section of Corridor 1 (IIT to Naubasta). Construction of the "Up-Line" tunnel has been completed, connecting Kanpur Central to Naubasta via Jhankarkati and Transport Nagar stations and connecting the entire underground section. This underground corridor will make travel to Kanpur even more convenient.

2025-07-14 - Members of the 'Parivartan Forum' organization in Kanpur organized a joyride in the metro from Kanpur Central to IIT today. The members motivated people to use the metro through slogans like 'Metro Se Jao Jaam Hatao' and 'Metro Chuno, Dhuan Nahi'. Kanpur Metro officials made the members aware of the features and facilities of the metro. The metro route connects major educational institutions, hospitals, offices and markets of the city. It gives relief to the commuters from traffic jams.
