- The Noida Metro is a rapid transit system connecting the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India.
- The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the project and forwarded the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Government of India in October 2013.
- In September 2015, work on Noida Metro progressed around Sector-71, Noida.
- In February 2016, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) completed the first phase of construction in just eight months.
- Noida Metro train trials were scheduled to start in December 2017, with commercial operations expected by April 2018.
- Finally, Noida Metro's commercial operations were launched in April 2018.
- On 25 January 2019, the Aqua Line was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Cabinet Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri.
- On 4 December 2018, Phase 2 of the Noida Metro Project was approved by the Uttar Pradesh government.
- The Phase 2 project was approved in a Uttar Pradesh Cabinet meeting, with a project deadline set for 2022.
Noida Metro Network Expansion Plan: Phase 2
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) approved the detailed project report (DPR) for the Noida Metro Phase 2 expansion on 4 December 2018. The extension will be 15 km long from Noida Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida, consisting of a total of 9 stations. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,602 crore.
The expansion will be completed in two phases. The first phase will build the track from Noida Sector 51 to Greater Noida Sector 2, with five stations: Noida Sector 122, Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Eco Tech, and Greater Noida Sector 2. The second phase will build the track from Greater Noida Sector 2 to Knowledge Park V, with four stations: Greater Noida Sector 3, Sector 10, Sector 12, and Knowledge Park V.
Additionally, the DPR for the extension from Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Garden has also been sent for approval. This extension will be 11.56 km long and will have 8 stations: Botanical Garden, Noida Sector 44, Noida Office, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College. Completion of these projects will significantly improve connectivity and passenger amenities between Noida and Greater Noida.
Interesting Facts about Noida Metro
- Currently, the Noida Metro network consists of one line, known as the Aqua Line.
- The metro was inaugurated on 25 January 2019 by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.
- Noida Metro is the 11th metro system to be built in India. It is the sixth-longest operational metro network in the country, following the Delhi Metro, Hyderabad Metro, Chennai Metro, Namma Metro, and Kolkata Metro.
- The Aqua Line connects to the Delhi Metro at Noida Sector 51 station.
- A 15 km extension will link Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida.
- The new stations on the extension are Sector 122 and Sector 123 in Noida, and Sector 4, Ecotech 12, Sector 2, Sector 3, Sector 10, Sector 12, and Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida.
- Each train has a seating capacity of 186 and a standing capacity of 848, with a total capacity of 1,034 passengers.
- All 21 stations, the train depot, and NMRC offices are powered by solar energy.
- Trains operate at an average speed of 35 km/h (22 mph) with a headway of 10 minutes during non-peak hours and 7.30 minutes during peak hours from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the headway is 15 minutes.
- The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) provides parking facilities at 15 metro stations.
- Penalties start from ₹50 and go up to ₹5,000, varying based on the nature of the offense.
- NMRC plans to implement a unified, smart card-based, multi-modal transport ticketing system for Noida City.
- The multi-modal ticketing system will enable NMRC to provide a seamless commuting experience for passengers within the city using a single common mobility card as fare media.

- National Holidays: Republic Day (26th January), Independence Day (15th August), and Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October).
- The fare for a single journey per passenger has been indicated.
- A 10% discount will be applied to each journey made using a Smart Card.
- A minimum charge of ₹10 will be applied for entry and exit from the same station when using a QR code ticket or Smart Card.
Noida Metro News & Updates
The Noida Metro in Uttar Pradesh is planning an expansion by February-March, with services extending from Botanical Garden to Sector-142. NMRC Managing Director Dr. Lokesh M. presented the plan to the Public Investment Board, where the response was positive. Approval is expected within a week, after which the tendering process will begin. Meanwhile, the detailed design drawings will also be completed; a company has already been selected for this work.

The MMLH project, spread over 311 hectares, is one of the flagship projects under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.

Finishing work is now underway, following which several stations, including RBS, are taking shape. Metro services will soon begin operating to RBS College. The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is constructing a metro project in Agra at a cost of approximately ₹8,000 crore. Construction work from RBS College Metro Station to Khandari Ramp, part of the first corridor from Sikandra to Taj East Gate, has been completed. Track laying is also progressing rapidly. RBS College Metro Station will provide improved connectivity for college-goers and passengers traveling to and from nearby areas such as Delhi Gate, Sanjay Place, and Khandari.

- Offensive items: Blood, carcasses of dead Animals, Unsealed row meat/fist, plants/sampling, skeletons, bones, rags, etc.

𝒜. One bag containing personal belongings, not exceeding 80 cm x 50 cm x 30 cm in size and 25 kg in gross weight, is permitted. Baggage in the form of bundles is not allowed.
𝒜. These are following drug items are not allowed in Noida Metro:
- Alcohol: Two sealed bottles of alcohol are allowed on Noida Metro trains.
- Cigarettes/Tobacco: One packet of cigarettes and one lighter/matchbox per passenger are allowed.
- Traveling with alcohol, tobacco, and cigarettes is allowed in Noida Metro; however, consumption of these items is strictly prohibited.
𝒜. Noida Metro coaches often carry announcements reminding passengers that eating and drinking are prohibited inside the trains. This is a rule strictly enforced by Noida Metro.
𝒜. Eating is not allowed in Noida Metro to maintain cleanliness in stations and trains. Officials at stations and on trains keep an eye on passengers. Passengers can carry food but are not allowed to eat it.
𝒜. Drinking water is available at ₹2 per glass through kiosks at most Noida Metro stations. At stations without this facility, passengers can request drinking water from the staff.

𝒜. Yes, Noida Metro has introduced one separate ladies' coach in each train to ensure safe rides for women. Male children up to the age of 12 years are allowed to travel in the ladies' coach if accompanied by a female passenger.
