About BM Birla Science Museum
B. M. Birla Science Museum is an Indian science museum located in Hyderabad, India. Constructed by civil engineer P. A. Singaravelu, it comprises a planetarium, museum, science centre, art gallery as well as a dinosaurium. The museum itself was the second phase of the science centre when it opened in 1990. The centre also houses India's first private Space Museum.
The museum is a unique facility which is dedicated to history of the space program of India. The space museum was inaugurated in July 2019 and was curated by Pranav Sharma.
Architecture of BM Birla Science Museum
A model of the International Space Station is installed among the communication satellites that are part of the museum. The museum covers an area of 10,000 square meters. The architecture of this science museum is an attraction in itself which makes it counted among the best museums in the country.
The museum was designed by renowned architects from Kolkata and Mumbai. Archaeological exhibitions like wood carvings, sculptures, bronzes, locks of antiquity, weapons and armory, palm leaf manuscripts etc. are another delight.

- Birla Science Museum has various sections, each section presenting an amazing set of exhibits, each dedicated to a particular area. These are the Interactive Science Section, Archeology and Dolls Museum, Nobel Gallery, Antarctica Diorama, NRSA, Dwarka Diorama, IEEE and Dinosaurs.
- Apart from entertaining its visitors, the planetarium also educates them in various ways. Presentation standards are of international standard, rated as one of the most visited planetariums in the world.
- The most striking feature of the planetarium is The Sky Show at the Sky Theatre. For more than 30 years, the planetarium has been building sky shows based on a variety of scientific approaches and theories that include topics such as Hubble's telescope, comets, planets, eclipses, and UFOs.
- Every year this show has a different name, in the year 1985 the first show was based on the theme of universe and it was named Astounding Universe. Sky Show is both informative and entertaining at the same time. The duration of the show lasts for about 35 minutes. Children under the age of 4 are not allowed in the Sky Theatre.
