About Indira Park
Indira Park is an open green space and park in the center of Hyderabad, India. The foundation stone of Indira Park in Hyderabad was laid in 1975 by the then President of India, Late Fakruddin Ahmed. The park is named after Indira Gandhi, one of the former Prime Ministers of India. And it was opened to the public in the year 1978 with complete landscaping. The park is maintained by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. It is located in Domalguda, a private area situated on the banks of Hussain Sagar Lake. The park has an award-winning rock garden. Due to its large size and the presence of a large lake in the middle of the urban area, Indira Park is an urban oasis.
Architecture of Indira Park
This park is spread over a large area of 76 acres in the heart of the city. Located close to Hussain Sagar Lake, the park has been creatively designed without disturbing the elements of nature. Here you will be able to see date palms, mango trees, blackberry trees, sandalwood trees and kewra plantations. Terraced gardens and a well-maintained rose garden also add to the architectural splendor of this popular picnic spot. The park is home to a famous rock garden which was designed by a commissioner of the Customs and Excise Department in Hyderabad.
