About National Defence Academy

The National Defense Academy is a joint service academy of the Indian Armed Forces located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. Here cadets of all the three services i.e. Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force train together before proceeding for training in their respective academies.

It is the world's first Tri-Service Academy. This academy is an extraordinary blend of excellence and valor. Therefore, anyone who wants to join the defense must visit this place and become a spectator of true patriotic spirit.

Architecture of National Defence Academy

NDA is spread over 7000 acres. Its building is made of red sandstone brought from Jodhpur which is a 3-storey basalt and granite structure. Its architecture has an exterior design consisting of a mix of arches, pillars and verandahs with a dome on top.

Interesting facts about National Defence Academy

  1. NDA is the reputed training academy to join the armed forces as officers after passing 12th standard.
  2. Beautifully designed lawns and feel proud of our armed forces.
  3. It is one of three institutes of its kind globally where tri-service leadership is trained in its cradle.
  4. Here you can also see the History Museum and some tanks.
  5. The central building is known as Sudan House and is one of the main attractions.
  6. The walls of the foyer are adorned with portraits of NDA graduates who have been awarded the highest gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra or the Ashoka Chakra.

The distance between the National Defense Academy from Pune Junction Railway Station is 19 km, from here you can take a rickshaw.
