About Vishrambaug Wada

Located in Sadashiv Peth in Perugate, Pune, Vishrambag Wada is a historic Maratha-era mansion built in 1807 as the residence of Peshwa Bajirao II, the last ruler of the Peshwa confederacy. Spanning approximately 20,000 square feet (approximately 1,858 square meters), the wada reflects the socio-political changes of Pune in the early 19th century. Its cultural significance lies in its association with Maratha rule and its later use as an educational and administrative space under the British and municipal authorities. Its distinctive features include intricately carved teakwood pillars, cypress-shaped columns, and open courtyards laid out in traditional Maratha design.
