The Race Club of Hyderabad, also known as Hyderabad Race Club (HRC), is a major horse racing club based in Hyderabad, India. Horse racing in Hyderabad was started in 1868 by Nizam Asaf Jah VI at Maula-Ali. In those days the races were called Deccan Races and later Hyderabad Races. Racing was shifted to Malakpet in 1886 by His Highness Nawab Mir Mahboob Ali Khan, Nizam VI as he wanted the race course to be near his palace. Hyderabad Race Club started its operations in 1961 in Secunderabad and shifted to Malakpet in 1968 when racing was revived under the Hyderabad Race Club. The club has a long tradition of organizing horse racing events, including thoroughbred races. These races are known for their competitive nature and attract top horses, jockeys and trainers from across India.
