The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), in collaboration with Aarvi Engineering Consultants, submitted the detailed project report (DPR) for the proposed Tumakuru Metro corridor to the Karnataka government on May 23. The DPR proposes a 60-kilometer metro corridor from Madavara (BIEC) to Tumakuru via Nelamangala, Dabaspet, and Kyathasandra. The proposed corridor will have 16 stations, an estimated travel time of 59 minutes, and an estimated cost of approximately ₹19,700 crore under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
The Bengaluru Metro Pink Line is set to launch soon, as officials from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) will complete safety trials on May 12. This rigorous testing covers a 7.5-kilometer stretch of the Pink Line. Commuters traveling along Bannerghatta Road can expect services to commence by the end of May.
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited is expected to receive 21 new six-coach trains in the coming months, bringing much-needed relief to daily commuters across the city. The move is aimed at increasing capacity on busy metro corridors, which have seen a rapid increase in ridership in recent years. The longer trains are expected to reduce congestion during office hours and increase travel comfort.
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has raised over Rs 1,500 crore from private firms through an innovative financing model that integrates public infrastructure with corporate participation. Structured as a public-private partnership (PPP), the model links station financing with long-term branding and access rights and enables the metro agency to raise upfront capital, BMRCL officials said.
The upcoming Namma Metro's Pink Line has received its fourth train, and preparations are underway for the corridor's partial launch. Officials confirmed that the new six-coach train arrived at the Kothanur depot on Bannerghatta Road on March 13. According to a senior Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official, the train was brought from Bharat Earth Movers Limited's manufacturing facility in New Thippasandra. After reaching the depot, the metro train was taken to the Inspection Bay Line (IBL). Several technical checks and safety tests will be conducted here before it can be put into operation. Officials explained that these tests are necessary to ensure that the train meets all the required safety and performance standards before it can be used for passenger services.
