Bangalore Metro Purple Line Extension in Phase III
The Karnataka government plans to extend the Purple Line eastward to Hosakote in Bengaluru Rural district and westward to Bidadi in Ramanagara district in the future. These extensions are part of the Namma Metro Phase III expansion, which is expected to be completed by 2030.

The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has planned to use artificial intelligence (AI) and drones to monitor the safety of concrete structures, including bridges and pillars. Drones equipped with high-resolution camera equipment will collect data on structural conditions. The AI tools will analyse the data to detect problems such as cracks, deterioration or honeycomb patterns in the concrete.

On January 1, 2024, the last metro will leave from all terminal stations at 2:00 am, while the last train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station (Majestic) will leave at 2:40 am. From 11:00 pm on December 31 till the extended service ends, trains will be available every 10 minutes. However, to manage the crowd at MG Road metro station, it will be closed for entry and exit after 11:00 pm. For the convenience of passengers, passengers departing from Trinity or Cubbon Park metro stations can buy paper tickets for the return journey for Rs 50. These tickets will be available in advance at all metro stations from 8:00 am on December 31, 2024. Also, regular QR code tickets and smart cards will also be valid for travel from these stations.
