About Arignar Anna Zoological Park

Arignar Anna Zoological Park was established in 1855. It is one of the oldest zoos in India and was rated as the "Best Zoo" in the country with a top score of 82% in the first Management Effectiveness Assessment conducted by the Central Zoo Authority, MoEF&CC. Has been given the status of. It was initially known as Madras Zoo and was later renamed in honor of Arignar Anna, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
