About Arignar Anna Zoological Park
Arignar Anna Zoological Park was established in 1855. It is one of the oldest zoos in India and was rated as the "Best Zoo" in the country with a top score of 82% in the first Management Effectiveness Assessment conducted by the Central Zoo Authority, MoEF&CC. Has been given the status of. It was initially known as Madras Zoo and was later renamed in honor of Arignar Anna, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The zoo has a rich history of wildlife conservation, education and research. The architecture of Arignar Anna Zoological Park mainly consists of well-designed enclosures and habitats for a variety of animal species. The park is divided into different areas to create a more natural and comfortable environment for the animals.

It is one of the largest zoos in Southeast Asia, spread over 602 hectares of land. The park's 160 enclosures contain about 1,500 wild species, including 46 endangered species. It has prehistoric animal park, zoo school, children's park, library, enclosures for animals and birds, safari park (wildlife tour), aviary, herpetarium, insectarium, butterfly house, aquarium, museum, virtual zoo.
