About Assam State Museum
Assam State Museum is one of the largest multipurpose museums in Guwahati. The museum was established in the year 1940 by the Assam Research Society. The museum presents a large collection of historical and prehistoric times. There is also a small cottage industries museum located inside the premises of the Assam State Museum, which comes under the administration of the Industrial Department of Assam.
The museum houses an extensive collection of artifacts and sculptures ranging from the 5th-12th centuries to new artifacts from World War II. The museum is buzzing with activities from history buffs and tourists from all over the world.
