About Begum Hazrat Mahal Park
Begum Hazrat Mahal Park was earlier known as Victoria Memorial and was constructed in 1867 in honor of Queen Victoria. However, the park was later renamed after Begum Hazrat Mahal, who played an important role during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. She was the wife of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Awadh. The naming of the park pays tribute to his contribution to India's freedom struggle.
