About Chota Imambara
The Chhota Imambara, also known as Imambara Hussainabad Mubarak, is a grand monument located in the city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. This amazing structure is basically a congregation hall which was built in the year 1838 for Shia Muslims by the Nawab of Awadh - Muhammad Ali Shah.
Located to the west (about 2 km) of Asafi Imambara, this popular historical site in Lucknow also serves as the resting place of Muhammad Ali Shah and his mother.
Architecture of Chota Imambara
The Chhota Imambara is built on a high platform in the Mughal architectural style. The complex is decorated with two grand minarets on the edge of the stage. Along with this, the exterior of the mosque is decorated with Quranic calligraphy and flower motifs. The structure of this famous tourist destination of Lucknow also includes several bastions and a gilded dome on top.

- The gleaming big and small domes of the Imambara which are radially ribbed can be seen from afar and attract people from afar.
- The entrance to the complex has two tripolia (three arched) entrances on the east and west.
- The striking white marble of this historical monument has been constructed in Indo-Islamic and Persian structural and architectural designs.
- The Chota Imambara houses two replicas of the Taj Mahal in Agra. These replicas stand as the tomb of Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah and her husband's daughter Princess Zeenat.
