About Calicut Planetarium
Calicut Planetarium is located in Jafarkhan Colony, Kozhikode. This Regional Science Center and Planetarium in Kozhikode aspires to promote science, spread awareness through active interaction and participation. It was started in 1997. Equipped with a projection system from Carl Zeiss in Germany, a 250 seater capacity, a high definition 3D theatre, the planetarium hosts 1,200 shows annually that allow science enthusiasts to explore the mysteries of the universe.
It houses three permanent galleries that display a range of experiments and models, with the intention of nurturing the desire to know the science behind the scenes. Other amenities include a children's activity nook, a well-stocked library, an aquarium, and a telescope corner.

Notes:
- General public can plan the visit in the afternoon.
- Normally morning session is crowded with school groups.
- School groups wish to spend whole day at this centre, then please chose the month from June to September.
- Special attention can be given to the students group during this period. Guided tours are available in galleries at specific times.
- NB: 'Group' and 'School Group' means a Group of 25 or more individuals.
- Entry to the Centre is free for the kids below 5 years, members of ICOM, physically and mentally challenged people and service personnel in uniform.
- Galleries remain open on all days from 10.00 AM to 06:00 PM except on Onam & Diwali.
