About Sargaalaya Kerala Arts

The museum is an arts and crafts village established by the Kerala Tourism Department. It has a large number of stalls selling various ethnic crafts and also houses a Crafts Design and Technology Development Centre, which provides training to craftsmen to learn new techniques in traditional handicrafts. Some stalls are very unique and almost all stalls are outlets for selling the products on display.

The annual International Arts and Crafts Festival is held here every year from 20 December to 05 January, attracting artisans from all over the world to register. It is also the largest handicrafts fair in South India.

Architecture of Sargaalaya Kerala Arts

The museum is located in Iringal in an area of 20 acres, just off the main Kozhikode Kannur National Highway. The entire complex is built using laterite rock which gives it a unique look. It was established by the Kerala Tourism Department on 19 February 2011 at a cost of about 15 crores.

1. Visitors can learn some craft making skills from the artisans.
2. There are 5 dozen stalls for sale and exhibition of handicrafts made of fiber, bamboo, coir, sand, coconut, palm etc.
3. You can get a verity of handmade jewelry, home furniture, figurines and gift items.
4. The museum is situated on the banks of the Murad River and tourists can enjoy boating here.
5. This project is really inspiring and has definitely emerged as a landmark. 6.This facility was created by the Government of Kerala to encourage local artisans to showcase their products.
