About Mylapore
Mylapore (Mayilapore) is located in the central part of the city of Chennai, India. It is one of the oldest residential parts of the city. Mylapore is also known as Thirumayilai. The region is considered to be the birthplace of the famous Tamil philosopher Valluvar. The word Mylapore is derived from the Tamil "மயிலà¯" (mayil arparikkum ur), which means "the land of the peacock's scream".
