About Kanch Mandir

The Kanch Mandir located in Indore is completely made of glass. It was built in 1903 by famous businessman Seth Hukumchand Jain. The temple is built like a palace from the outside but the inner walls, ceiling, floor, pillars and doors of the temple are all made of glass and cut glass chandeliers. The main idols of Lord Mahavir situated in the temple are decorated with black onyx and multicolored.

Artisans were specially called from Jaipur and Iran for the construction of the temple. The stained glass and mirror panels depict various aspects of Jainism with lavishly intricate details. The temple celebrates Jain festivals with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm.

Architecture of Kanch Mandir

The Kanch Mandir has more than 50 murals depicting Jain stories. These paintings in the temple depict scenes of conversion to Jainism and images of sinners being tortured in the afterlife. There are also Chinese style glass chandeliers and glass lamps inside the temple which look amazingly beautiful.

Everything in this temple from the ceiling to the walls and doors is decorated with mirrors and mirrors and it looks like the Sheesh Mahal in Amer Fort of Rajasthan.
