About St. Mary's Basilica
St. Mary's Basilica is the oldest church in Bangalore, which is built in the shape of a cross. The church was built in 1882 and has been given the status of a minor basilica, being the only church in the state. The church is popular for the festivities that take place during the St. Mary's Feast in September every year, during which a large crowd can be seen.
On the porch of the church there is a large statue of Mother Mary with baby Jesus in her arms, and the idol is adorned with traditional Indian women's sari every day.

St. Mary's Basilica is a Gothic-style church, designed by a French architect. The church is 172 feet tall and 50 feet wide, with its stained glass windows, decorative motifs and graceful arches that adorn the walls. The grand and magnificent tower that forms the façade of the church is 160 feet high.
