- The Noida Metro is a rapid transit system connecting the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India.
- The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet approved the project and forwarded the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Government of India in October 2013.
- In September 2015, work on Noida Metro progressed around Sector-71, Noida.
- In February 2016, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) completed the first phase of construction in just eight months.
- Noida Metro train trials were scheduled to start in December 2017, with commercial operations expected by April 2018.
- Finally, Noida Metro's commercial operations were launched in April 2018.
- On 25 January 2019, the Aqua Line was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Cabinet Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri.
- On 4 December 2018, Phase 2 of the Noida Metro Project was approved by the Uttar Pradesh government.
- The Phase 2 project was approved in a Uttar Pradesh Cabinet meeting, with a project deadline set for 2022.
- Currently, the Noida Metro network consists of one line, known as the Aqua Line.

- The Aqua Line connects to the Delhi Metro at Noida Sector 51 station.
- A 15 km extension will link Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida.
- The new stations on the extension are Sector 122 and Sector 123 in Noida, and Sector 4, Ecotech 12, Sector 2, Sector 3, Sector 10, Sector 12, and Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida.
- Each train has a seating capacity of 186 and a standing capacity of 848, with a total capacity of 1,034 passengers.
- All 21 stations, the train depot, and NMRC offices are powered by solar energy.
- Trains operate at an average speed of 35 km/h (22 mph) with a headway of 10 minutes during non-peak hours and 7.30 minutes during peak hours from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the headway is 15 minutes.
- The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) provides parking facilities at 15 metro stations.
- Penalties start from ₹50 and go up to ₹5,000, varying based on the nature of the offense.
- NMRC plans to implement a unified, smart card-based, multi-modal transport ticketing system for Noida City.
- The multi-modal ticketing system will enable NMRC to provide a seamless commuting experience for passengers within the city using a single common mobility card as fare media.
Noida Metro Network Expansion Plan: Phase 2
The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) approved the detailed project report (DPR) for the Noida Metro Phase 2 expansion on 4 December 2018. The extension will be 15 km long from Noida Sector 51 to Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida, consisting of a total of 9 stations. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 2,602 crore.
The expansion will be completed in two phases. The first phase will build the track from Noida Sector 51 to Greater Noida Sector 2, with five stations: Noida Sector 122, Sector 123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Eco Tech, and Greater Noida Sector 2. The second phase will build the track from Greater Noida Sector 2 to Knowledge Park V, with four stations: Greater Noida Sector 3, Sector 10, Sector 12, and Knowledge Park V.
Additionally, the DPR for the extension from Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Garden has also been sent for approval. This extension will be 11.56 km long and will have 8 stations: Botanical Garden, Noida Sector 44, Noida Office, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College. Completion of these projects will significantly improve connectivity and passenger amenities between Noida and Greater Noida.
The proposed metro corridor is expected to start from the Shivaji Stadium metro station on the DMRC's Airport Express Line in Delhi. It will reach the airport at Jewar via Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.

2026-02-18 - The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) announced that it will prepare a new detailed project report (DPR) for the Greater Noida West Metro corridor. Under the revised plan, only four stations will be built in the first phase, instead of the earlier proposal of 11 stations.

2026-02-15 - The central government has approved the extension of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation's (NMRC) Aqua Line. This new metro corridor will begin at Sector 142 and connect directly to the Botanical Garden station in Noida's Sector 38A. This government decision will reduce travel time and facilitate connectivity between Noida and Delhi.

2025-12-30 - उत्तर प्रदेश के नोएडा मेट्रो का विस्तार फरवरी-मार्च तक होने की योजना है, जिसमें बोटेनिकल गार्डन से सेक्टर-142 तक सेवाएं शुरू होंगी। एनएमआरसी के एमडी डॉ. लोकेश एम ने इसके लिए पब्लिक इन्वेस्टमेंट बोर्ड के समक्ष प्रेजेंटेशन दी। जहां प्रतिक्रिया पॉजिटिव रही। एक सप्ताह के अंदर मंजूरी पत्र प्राप्त होने की उम्मीद है, उसके बाद टेंडर प्रक्रिया शुरु होगी। उधर, डिटेल्ड डिजाइन ड्राइंग का काम भी पूरा कर लिया जाएगा। इसके लिए पहले ही कंपनी का चयन हो चुका है।
