About Patna Metro

The Patna Metro, an urban Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) currently under development in Patna, Bihar's capital and largest city, is being constructed by the Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL). The Phase 1 project of the Patna Metro spans 30.91 km and consists of two lines with a total of 26 stations. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this phase was prepared by RITES and received approval from the state government of Bihar on February 9, 2016.

Patna Metro Construction work:

In September 25, 2018, the Bihar government granted approval for the establishment of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (PMRCL) to oversee and execute the Patna Metro project. To aid in its implementation, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was appointed as the General Consultant (GC) by PMRCL. The project received the approval of the Central Government on February 6, 2019, and on February 17, 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project.

The DMRC made an announcement in November 2019 regarding modifications to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and alignment of two lines. These changes resulted in the construction of a second interchange at Khemni Chowk, the removal of Line-1's depot at Aitwarpur, and the inclusion of two new stations at Ramkrishna Nagar and Jaganpura. To fund the project, the DMRC intends to secure an official development assistance (ODA) loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The groundwork for Phase 1 of the Patna Metro commenced in November 2020, with NCC initiating the initial preparations. Piling for the construction work started in December 2020. Although the original deadline for the completion and opening of the first section of Patna Metro was set for August 2023, it is now anticipated to be finished and operational by August 2025. The entire Phase 1 project is scheduled to reach completion in 2025.

Patna Metro Fares (Ticket Prices)

The fare structure, ticket types, and rules for Patna Metro have not been disclosed yet. These details will be determined and made public closer to the commencement of commercial operations. The Patna Metro Rail Corporation intends to incorporate advanced technologies in its automatic fare collection (AFC) system, enabling the use of QR codes and Near Field Communication (NFC) phones to access the system.

Services on Howrah Maidan-Esplanade stretch to be rescheduled from Monday. From the 11 November metro services in the west-bound tunnel will operate between Howrah Maidan and Mahakaran stations. This change will apply during working hours on weekdays, from 6:55 am to 10 pm On Sundays, metro services in the east-bound tunnel will run from 2:15 pm to 9:50 pm, as per the revised schedule.

There will be parking at 16 stations of Noida Greno Metro line. Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has issued tender for this. Agencies can apply till 25th November. There are 21 metro stations on this line. NMRC officials said that out of 21 stations, only three-four stations have parking facility, whereas out of 21 metro stations, 16 stations have sufficient space for parking.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited temporarily suspends tunnelling near Kutchery Road due to gas leak. Officials say gas detectors detected small amounts of methane and carbon monoxide in the tunnel. They are pumping fresh air into the tunnel and are looking for the source of the leak in order to plug it.
