The Bhopal Metro, also known as the Bhoj Metro project, is currently being constructed as a mass rapid transit system (MRTS) to cater to the transportation needs of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, by the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co Limited (MPMRCL).
The comprehensive master plan for the Bhopal Metro, spanning a distance of 105 km, was developed by Rohit Associates Cities & Rails Pvt. Ltd. It outlines the vision of establishing six metro lines that will intersect across the city. For the initial phase of implementation, two lines, namely Line 2 and Line 5, have been selected. These lines are currently in progress.
Bhopal Metro Construction work:The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase 1 of the Bhopal Metro, covering a distance of 27.90 km, received approval from the state government in December 2016 and later from the Central Government's cabinet in October 2018. However, there have been delays in the construction of the Priority Corridor, which is now anticipated to be finished and inaugurated in March 2024, surpassing the initial deadline of August 2023. The entire Phase 1 of the Bhopal Metro project is expected to be fully completed by 2027.
The project aims to receive financial support from multiple sources, including an official development assistance (ODA) loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and a 400 million euro loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), which was signed on December 20, 2019. Phase 1 of the construction work began in January 2019 and is projected to conclude in 2026. In September 2019, the state's Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the project, affectionately known as Bhoj Metro.
Bhopal Metro Fares (Ticket Prices)The fare structure, prices, and regulations for the Bhopal Metro have not been disclosed yet. These details will be announced closer to the commencement of operations. The Bhopal Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) intends to employ cutting-edge technologies for its automatic fare collection (AFC) system, enabling passengers to utilize QR codes and Near Field Communication (NFC) enabled smartphones for fare transactions.

The work of Bhopal Metro Train Project beyond Pul Bogda will be done at night. This has been decided so that there is no hindrance in the traffic here. URC is working here for the underground line. The agency has been asked to complete its survey work at night. Here the metro line will be laid in about 3.34 km long twin tunnel from Pul Bogda to DIG. For this, boring is being done up to 40 meters deep in the ground. At many places it is up to 60 to 70 meters. This boring will be done at night, while during the day the road will be kept open for general traffic.

◷ 2023-12-18 | ☍ inh NewsTwo steel bridges for Bhopal Metro have been completed in Alwar, Rajasthan. Most of their major ports have been reached. These bridges have been designed like Delhi Metro. Whose total length will be 103 meters. If Metro Corporation officials are to be believed, the work will start in January after the approval from Railways. A bridge will pass over the railway track, which will be built at the DRM office intersection.

◷ 2023-10-03 | ☍ Aaj TakThe first rake of Bhopal Metro has reached the depot located in Subhash Nagar. The work of assembling the coach, which was going on since Tuesday, has also been completed.
