The Bhopal Metro (Bhoj Metro) is a rapid transit system in Madhya Pradesh, with commercial operations for its initial priority corridor beginning on December 21, 2025. Managed by MPMRCL, it aims to reduce traffic congestion and enhance urban mobility, with a total planned network of over 30 km featuring two main lines, the Orange and Blue lines.

  • 2026-01-29 - Considered the most crucial part of Bhopal's metro project, construction on the metro ramp is expected to begin in March this year. The proposed ramp near Patra and Sindhi Colony will connect the underground and elevated metro corridors. Metro trains will exit the underground section and run on the elevated track. Its construction is considered the most crucial part of the entire metro project.

  • 2025-12-30 - भोपाल में मेट्रो के प्रति लोगों का उत्साह देखते हुए मेट्रो प्रबंधन अब दूसरे ट्रैक पर भी ट्रेन संचालन की संभावनाएं तलाश रहा है। वर्तमान में सुभाष नगर से एम्स के बीच केवल एक ट्रेन चलने से यात्रियों को 75 मिनट का लंबा इंतजार करना पड़ रहा है। लिहाजा नए साल में भीड़ के समय अतिरिक्त ट्रेनें पटरी पर उतारी जा सकती हैं।

  • 2025-12-20 - मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री मोहन यादव और केंद्रीय आवास एवं शहरी मामलों के मंत्री मनोहर लाल खट्टर ने शनिवार (20 दिसंबर, 2025) को भोपाल मेट्रो के पहले चरण का औपचारिक रूप से उद्घाटन किया, जिसके तहत शहर में लगभग सात किलोमीटर के मार्ग पर पहली बार सेवाएं शुरू की गईं।

  • 2025-12-16 - भोपाल मेट्रो के उद्घाटन के दिन यानी 20 दिसंबर तक प्राथमिकता कॉरिडोर के सभी आठ मेट्रो स्टेशनों पर बाहरी लोगों का प्रवेश प्रतिबंधित कर दिया गया है। मध्य प्रदेश मेट्रो रेल निगम (एमपीएमआरसी) के एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि उद्घाटन की तैयारियां युद्धस्तर पर चल रही हैं।

Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate the metro. He will tour Bhopal in a three-coach metro decorated with flowers. People will be able to travel for free in the first week. The date of commercial operations may also change. Instead of December 21st, the metro may start on December 20th. However, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has already stated that the metro will be inaugurated on December 21st at the Khajuraho Convention Center. Prior to this, discussions are underway between the BJP organization, the government, and officials regarding the commercial operation program.
